I love this pan/egg poacher!
I first tried sauteing and was amazed my food simply slid out of the pan! Then, I wiped the pan clean with a wet paper towel!
Next, I tried poaching eggs (the sole reason for this purchase). I was amazed! My eggs slid right out of the cups and cooked to perfection!
My thoughts...
1) Be sure to read the instruction pamphlet, it has good tips in it.
2) Tempered glass lid, very nice, love seeing what I'm cooking... keep in mind lid handle will get hot.
3) Pan, smooth and solid, distributes heat very nicely throughout the surface.
4) Pan handle actually stays cool in stove top use, easy to grip, and well balanced.
5) Egg cups actually hold large egg with a little room to spare! (Based on my research, this appears to be an issue with 6 cup egg poachers.)
6) Egg poacher insert: Handle well balanced... keep in mind insert handle will get hot.
7) Butter/oil usage: as per pamphlet... I merely wiped the oil onto the surface (pan/egg cups) with a paper towel.
8) Dishwasher safe!

This is the first Calphalon cookware I have ever purchased. I see now why people love it. Definitely worth every penny spent!
